For the first time since its construction the Maeslantkering was closed on 8 November, 2007, as a result all marine traffic at the Nieuwe Waterweg was shut off. In combination with the closure of other storm surge barriers, the entire Dutch coast was protected against flooding for the first time since 1976. These severe weather conditions delayed our planned arrival of five stainless steel tanks, but after a long journey these tanks have arrived at their final destination: Vopak Terminal Vlaardingen!!
